I'm writing because the author said that only one in a hundred of his readers leave reviews for his books. I enjoyed the characters, they were interesting, they had character flaws and even his despicable characters were believable. I enjoyed the humor, the definition of "Love" and his mini-philosophical paragraphs on grief and the attendant guilt upon the use of power. by a leader.This is the second book in this series and it was a shade better than the first. As in so many of these "indie" writers there's a need for better editing in spelling but more so in grammar. I'm not a writer and somewhat covet the guts, determination and discipline that it takes to be one. However I am an ex-English teacher and coming across such errors detracts from the pleasure of reading. That's the main reason I rated it a four. Overall, it wasn't a B. Sanderson, or a Harry Potter book but the characters, plot and writing warrant buying the next book(s).

Can't wait for book 3! Lots of story lines and plots. Great to add a directory of characters at end. Of course each chapter starts with a hint of an event or trait to help you along and to keep everyone straight. Enjoying the development of the gifted.
This is a good read. If has some editing issues. The characters are interesting and the story is fast. Enjoyed
Excellent story, a truly fun read a fast moving action pack coming of age fantasy adventure for any age reader.This book will not disappoint if you like well written fast pace fantasy adventure, but i would recommend reading book # 1 first.
Half way thru the first one I bought this one because I knew I was going to be reading it... I wish I didn't have to wait for the next one to be written!!! This author is definitely going on my list to watch for books!!! This was well written, moved at a good pace and kept me entertained. Love the dragons...
I loved the Books and just found discovered that Spencer Johnson has passed away. i do not expect there to be anymore in the series.
I was happy to have book two available on the heels of the first book. I liked the first book better. This book drifted from the main characters from book one and was more of an ensemble book, flitting from one character group to another. Nothing wrong in that approach, but I was expecting more focus on the main characters from the first book.
The story also added some depth to the dragon lord weapons that left me a little could with long dead souls controlling and possessing current hosts. If a person is controlled by another does the controlled person deserve any praise for the actions committed by the body. I would say no and in essence we have killed off a character when they are possessed during struggle and strife.
This is the 2nd book in a really excellent LOTR style adventure that fortunately (from my point of view) focuses more on magic and dragons and interesting skirmishes than epic traveling and huge battles.
If you liked the first book (which you should definitely read first), you'll like this one too.
